Shiro bears round yellow plums with translucent yellow flesh, abundant juice and a mild, sweet flavour. It is an early dessert plum introduced by Luther Burbank in 1899.
This is trial material in colder regions; its performance in a short, cold growing season should not be assumed from its harvest timing elsewhere.
The fruit is clingstone and suited to fresh eating. Reports say it needs another plum for pollination.
